Public Works Continues to Use Emergency No Parking Signs to Remove Snow & Widen Streets
Public Works continues to post streets with emergency no parking red/green signs for snow removal during the hours of 11 PM and 7 AM to help widen narrow streets. They will also take advantage of existing street regulations to perform this work, but need both sides of the street for equipment to move through safely.
Tonight, they plan to work in the following general areas:
- Bayside neighborhood between Oxford St and Somerset St;
- West End neighborhood around Brackett/West, Maine Medical Center, Taylor St, May St, and Weymouth Street;
- East End neighborhood: Congress St (odd side) between Washington Ave and Eastern Prom, Locust Street and Beckett Street;
- Deering Center: Pleasant Ave (one side) and behind Deering High/Lincoln School neighborhood
*This list is not all encompassing of the streets that have been posted. We have been posting the full listing of streets here as soon as it is available.*
Vehicles left in areas that are posted with emergency no parking signs may be towed. It is important that you not leave your car for longer than 12 hours at a time as signs will go up each day this week as we move around the city to remove snow. Please note that if equipment breaks down, we may not make it to your street that night and the signs will need to stay up for another night until the work is performed. We are doing the best we can with the resources we have to remove the snow.
If your street is posted, you can park in the following snow ban sites: Cutter Street, Eastern Prom, Western Prom, Deering Oaks, and State Street. Please follow the restrictions that are in place for these sites as outlined here: www.portlandmaine.gov/snowbans. You may also park in school lots, but you must be out by 6:30 AM.
Thank you for your cooperation and compliance as we work to make the streets safe.
