The Search is Over for the 2021 Monument Square Tree!

The Portland Downtown and Portland Parks & Recreation have fielded a small number of tree donation suggestions as of late October. Our forestry team has been on the hunt for the perfect tree, which ideally would be a 40-50' Spruce or Fir located in Greater Portland. Thursday, November 18th is our tree move day, so it won't be long before Monument Square is adorned in greenery and lights. (We start lighting the already planted shade trees in the square the first week of November).
Once we locate the perfect Monument Square Tree we then reach out to our tree partners:  Keeley Crane Service and Shaw Brothers Construction who each year donate their services of lifting and setting the tree and carefully hauling it to Monument Square, we also receive escort help to get the tree into the square from Portland Police and Parking Control.  Once the tree is set, the lighting begins using two bucket trucks which takes three days to complete.  The holiday tree contains thousands of LED lights and should be ready to go for lighting day, the Friday after Thanksgiving, November 26th.
