[ARCHIVED] Portland Police Host 11th Annual Shop with a Cop

The Portland Police Department along with the Police Benevolent Association, Superior Officer Association, Target, Red Claws, Subway and the Portland Pie Company will sponsor twenty children for the annual Shop with a Cop event on Friday, November 30, 2018.

Shop with a Cop is an opportunity for children to do some holiday shopping with a local police officer. Eight children, ages 9 to 11, from more than 100 applicants were selected based on their answer to the question "Why I want to go shopping with a police officer?" to be a part of the 9th annual holiday event.

Children will be picked up in a patrol car by a police officer at one of Portland Recreation's after-school locations and the Cumberland Ave. Boys and Girls Club and taken to Target where they will have the opportunity to purchase gifts for their family members. The officer will accompany the child as they shop. Afterward, the officers and children will return to the Portland Police Department to wrap their gifts. Portland Pie Company is donating pizzas and Subway sandwich platters and cookies. This year funds were donated by Target.
