[ARCHIVED] New Digital Parking Citation Management Software Begins September 22

The days of handwriting parking citations are over for the City of Portland. Passport, an industry leader in parking enforcement and citation management software, has launched its citation management platform for the city. The new tickets will begin appearing Friday, September 22, 2017. In the next couple of months, the City will be launching a mobile app via Passport, which will allow parkers to check time remaining on their meter, add time, and make payments right from their cell phones. 

Previously, the City was hand writing more than 120,000 citations a year and manually inputting them into its database. With Passport’s citation management platform, City parking enforcement officers have the ability to efficiently issue citations using wireless handheld devices and Bluetooth printers rather than manually writing tickets. Enforcement officers can also monitor parking, conduct digital chalking, and upload pictures of violations in real time. The real-time data transfer functionality allows parking administrators and violators access to citation information immediately upon ticket issuance. Tickets will be available to be paid online at minutes after being issued.

“The City of Portland aims to make the most accurate data-driven decisions,” said John Peverada, parking manager for the City of Portland “With the implementation of Passport’s state-of-the-art citation management technology, we are able to ease the flow of information between our on-street enforcement officers and our parking administrators.”

“We’re excited to introduce our citation management platform to the City of Portland,” said April Dickerson, project manager at Passport. “With our innovative technology, enforcement officers and administrators can efficiently integrate workflow, access real-time information, and make appropriate data-driven decisions.”

With the platform the City has the ability to track enforcement officers in real-time, pull ticket density reports, and analyze parking patterns.
