COVID-19 Loan and Grant Programs

The City of Portland’s Business Loan and Grant Programs are designed to provide financial assistance to Portland businesses impacted by COVID-19. This includes businesses that have remained open, have furloughed some or all of their employees, businesses that have closed temporarily, and those that have re-opened.

Applications that are received by March 4th, 2021 before noon, will be considered for funding on March 18th, 2021. Applications that are received by April 1st, 2021 before noon, will be considered for funding on April 15th, 2021. Funding approvals will be voted on at the PDC meetings.

HOW DO I APPLY?

The application is a google a form, you must log into a google account to fill out the form. If you do not

have a google account you can create one here. Alternatively, you can submit the form by downloading

the PDF application and scanning all attachments via email to edd@portlandmaine.gov

If you previously received a Micro-Enterprise Grant and you have commercial space, you may be eligible for an additional $2,500. Learn more here.

NEW:  Winter Business Sustainability Grant Program (WBSG)    

Businesses that need financial assistance to operate a component of their business outdoors through the fall and winter can submit an application for a Winter Business Sustainability Grant. The program will provide up to $10,000 grants for a range of equipment such as coverings, heaters, lighting, platforms, and other items needed for outdoor operations.  

The Housing and Economic Development Department will accept applications through 4:00 PM on December 9, 2020; after that date/time, applications will no longer be accepted.  Please email applications and all attachments to nrh@portlandmaine.gov.  APPLY HERE.  If you have questions, please contact Nelle Hanig, Business Programs Manager, at nrh@portlandmaine.gov or (207) 756-8019.
