NEW: Grants to Help Businesses Sustain Outdoor Winter Operations Now Available
The City’s Winter Business Sustainability Grant Program (WBSG) was launched on Thursday, November 19. Offering grants of up to $10,000, the Program’s purpose is to assist Portland businesses with the cost of maintaining a portion of their operations outside through the fall and winter, due to the pandemic. The program’s main objective is job retention.
The City of Portland launched three emergency business assistance programs after receiving City Council approval of the programs at its May 4, 2020 meeting and final funding for them at its May 18, 2020 meeting.
The programs include the Business Assistance Program for Job Creation (BAP-Rehire), the Microenterprise Grant Program, and the Rapid Response Microloan Program. Information about the programs and an application can be found on the City’s website at portlandmaine.gov/CovidBizAssist.
If you can’t show monetary support, consider sharing the website or social media account of your favorite business, organization, or entrepreneur and encourage others to support them.
