Peninsula Zone Parking Ban

During winter months, the City of Portland implements citywide parking bans for snow plowing and or snow removal. When necessary, the City may call for a limited parking ban.

New for 2016, the City is unveiling a peninsula parking ban option to join the citywide and yellow zone bans. This new option will cover the entire peninsula – the area south and east of I-295 to the Portland waterfront, from Tukey’s Bridge to the I-295 Bridge at the Fore River – and will improve snow removal operations in the East and West Ends. When the City calls for a peninsula ban, it will run from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM just like the other bans.

All vehicles left on city streets during the parking ban times will be towed at the owner's expense. All vehicles removed from the streets during a peninsula zone parking ban are towed to the city's impound lot. This is located at the Ocean Gateway Marine Terminal next to the Maine State Pier at 40 Commercial Street.- The telephone number to the snow impound lot is 207-774-3025. The impound lot is open throughout the parking ban and remains open until 7 p.m. At some point unclaimed vehicles are retowed to the towing company's individual impound lots.

Only cash, VISA, MasterCard, or Discover Card will be accepted, no checks will be accepted:
